The WSAVA Organisation:
WSAVA is an international network of over 40 member associations and affiliated organizations, representing nearly 50,000 individual veterinarians. Each year an Annual World Small Animal Veterinary Association Congress is held in a different part of the world, hosted by one of the member associations under the auspices of the WSAVA. The Congress attracts large numbers of veterinarians from many countries, who are able to learn from top international speakers on all aspects of small animal practice. Proceedings from the Congress are available to veterinary schools, libraries and individuals, and provide a valuable source of the most up-to-date knowledge of medicine and surgery. For several years, WSAVA has been running a very successful plan for providing continuing veterinary education in the emerging countries of Eastern Europe. In 1997 a similar 5 year programme was started in South America. Plans are being drafted for further activities in Asia. This year the congress is held in Bangkok Thailand.

For many years the WSAVA has been active in the documentation and control of hereditary defects in small animals throughout the world. Progress is being made towards international certification schemes for elbow dysplasia, hip dyspalsia and certain eye conditions in dogs.

WSAVA furthers international relationships between all veterinarians dealing with small animal health and welfare.

Congress Venue:
The 28th World Congress of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association will be held at:
The Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC)
60 New Rachadapisek Road,
Klongtoey, Bangkok 10110 Thailand

The Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC) in Bangkok was officially opened by his Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and her Majesty Queen Sirikit of Thailand on Thursday, August 29, 1991. The centre's name honors Her Majesty's 60th birthday, which falls on August 12, 1992 and marks her completion of an auspicious fifth twelve-year cycle.

Infinitely flexible in its applications, the center can host international, national and regional functions. These may be conferences, conventions, seminars, exhibitions trade fairs, sport events, concerts, cultural performances, World Congresses - the list is virtually limitless.

Unusual for a facility of its size, the QSNCC enjoys an extremely central city location. The site was considered the most appropriate as it offers great access to Bangkok leading hotels. In the year 2002 an under ground mass transportation system will be completed with a station next to the QSNCCs main building.
