A Bangkok taxi driver rammed his vehicle into his passenger, a Chinese woman tourist, after attempting to rob her, breaking her legs and an arm, Thai police said..

Miss Lee Yan Chuan, a Chinese woman, was left lying on the roadside in Bangkok, where she was found by a passer-by around dawn the next day, said police spokesman Major general Pongsaphat Pongcharoen.

This attack is the second in 2-weeks in Thailand, involving a Bangkok taxi driver. A Japanese flight attendant was shot in the stomach on 26 November 2003, allegedly by the Bangkok taxi driver she had hired, the Japanese woman was also later dumped in a deserted street. She was hospitalized and has since returned to Japan.

Miss Lee, 39 years of age, hired the car in central Bangkok sometime late Sunday or early Monday to go only a few blocks further. Police Maj. Gen. Pongsaphat said the taxi driver drove her outside the city of Bangkok, apparently to rob her.

The Chinese woman resisted and jumped out of the taxi, Pongsaphat said. The taxi driver then turned around and came back to run her down, breaking both the lady's legs and arms.

No other details are currently available. Due to the woman's condition, it is also not immediately known where Miss Lee is from originally and if she is residing in Thailand or a tourist. No arrests have been made so far, the Police said
