A cargo train derailed in this northern province of Phrae in Thailand this morning, paralyzing people's communications by railroads from the North of Thailand to Bangkok and the southern parts of Thailand.
The incident took place at around 10:00 a.m., when the special cargo train 1089 running from Bangkok derailed between the 530-540 km poles in Denchai District in Thailand, just about one kilometers far from the Denchai Railway Station, said local media reports.
Hundreds of passengers from other trains traveling from the northern province of Chiang Mai and from Bangkok had been stranded, as northern rail routes had been paralyzed pending the removal of the derailed train, stated the news reports.
Mana Chantrama, Head of Denchai Railway Station, told reporters that it would take hours to remove the derailed train, but added that he expected the train communications via railroads to the North of Thailand could be resumed as soon as 04:00 p.m. today at the latest.
There were no reports of casualties, but damages from the incident had not yet been estimated. The stranded train passengers are being transferred to Sila-ars Railway Station of Uttaradit Province in Thailand. Mana Chantrama added that the derailed cargo train was carrying new rails to replace the old ones in the area of the train accident.
