It is good that Thai people express their love to their special ones on St. Valentine's Day, but teenagers in Thailand should understand that the word "love" means "to care", and means being concerned about your beloved ones. Love does not just mean having a sexual affair, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra cautioned Thai youngsters.
During his weekly radio program, "Premier Thaksin talks with the public", broadcast nationwide yesterday morning, the Thai leader said although the St. Valentine's Day is not a Thai tradition, but it is good that people express their love one another.
"I view it's a good thing that people in Thailand express their love to their special ones on the Valentine's Day although it's a western tradition and not a Thai tradition. Love truly means care of and concern about your beloved ones who are members of your families and friends. Love does not just mean sex. So, teenagers in Thailand should understand the meaning of the word love properly." he noted.
Surveys found that many teenagers in Thailand were tempted by the "Day Of Love" on Valentine's day with engaging in their first sexual affair, which is leading to social youth problems in Thailand.
