American Christmas Story from the jungle of Thailand
16 Dec 2003
One day we also will be able to use e-mail

In a remote jungle village in Thailand lives an American war veteran who is spending his free time in trying to help those that are less fortunate in the world, and by doing so, is one of the very few people, these days, who is helping to create a more positive image for the American Stars and Stripes.

Michael Glatz is a Vietnam war veteran who has seen his fair share of war bitterness and poverty in the world and has decided to do something about it by trying to offer school children in a remote village in Thailand the possibility of better changes in life in Thailand by being able to use and work with a computer.

Michael Glatz is currently spending his retirement time in trying to set up a computer classroom for the school children of a remote village in Thailand, where he and his Thai family live. Some of the families of those school children are so poor that the kids need to come to school without shoes.

Good Samaritan Michael is trying to arranged a "Computer For Thai Kids" program in the village school. He will have the computers sent to him by the Non-Profit "Computer Aid International Organization". However, he will have to pay out of his own pocket the shipping charges and the ISP satellite receiver to connect the little isolated school, in the jungles of Thailand, to the modern outside world.

So to be able to realize Michael's good deed and the dream of those Thai Kids, Michael Glatz is trying to raise US$ 3,000 (120,000 Thai Baht) to sponsor his project.

If Michael had lived in Bangkok, Phuket or Pattaya, then organizing a charity-golf tournament or bowling-evening would have generated his needed funds in a flash. But living in his remote village, far from the modern live of Thailand, generating the needed 3,000 US$ is not so easy.

150 US-dollars (6,000 Baht) pays for one computer to be set up in the Computer-Classroom of the village school.

So if during this holiday season, you would like to lend a helping hand to Michael and his Thai school children, why not consider a small donation to help offer those kids a better future in live.
