Pattaya Alangkarn Thailand show extravaganza

The beach resort of Pattaya City in Thailand welcomed its latest dinner and cultural show theatre with yesterday's gala launch of the 1 billion baht (US$ 25,5 million) Pattaya Alangkarn theatre, a dinner and Thai extravaganza show complex.

A more than state-of-the-art theatre that seats 2,000 persons, completely decorated in Thai style with a 70 meters long show-stage with giant movie screens, a 30 meter of water track on stage to present multi-dimensional Thai cultural events and shows on water, the whole spiced with a space-age surround sound system, digital synchronized pyrotechnic techniques and a multi-color laser animation.

The new Pattaya theater, auditorium, restaurant and shopping complex is set on an 80-rai area on Sukhumvit Road in near Jomtien Beach and will provide unique Thai cultural show and art exhibition possibilities to both the local Thai and international tourists visiting Pattaya, managing director Suttikorn Jearpaitoon said in his opening speech.

J2K Group, a subsidiary of Twin Tower Hotel in Thailand, also considered Chiang Mai and Phuket to locate the Alangkarn night-time attraction, but the company finally chose Pattaya as it's better known to tourists and close to Bangkok. Besides, we see an opportunity coming up for Pattaya when the new international airport will open here," Suttikorn added.

The Alangkarn Show in Pattaya comprises different acts, such as: Sun Moon and Planet, Naga stories of Thailand, Thai Buddhist Ceremonies, History of Thailand, Elephant Battle, Khon Mask Dance, Royal Barge Procession and many others

The acts are accompanied by old film sequences from ancient Siam (Thailand) on two 12x15 meter giant screens, trapeze artists falling out of the sky and lots of fireworks all professional orchestrated in a marvelous show of Thailand extravaganza as Pattaya has never seen before.

Thailand's new Alangkarn complex in Pattaya is open from 5.30pm-11pm with one performance at 8pm. Tickets cost Bt800 and Bt1,000 (US$ 21 and 26) and include a buffet at the Alangkarn restaurant.
