Many girl students from Bangkok high-schools, think its "Cool" to e-mail nude pictures of themselves and even photos in which they are having sex, to other students and friends, according to Thailand's Cultural Watch Center.
Some Thai girl students even upload nude pictures of themselves on the Internet, so that other students and friends can see them, because they think this is "Cool" and "In Vogue", said the chief of the "Thai Cultural Watch Center", Khun Ladda Thangsupachai.
Young Thai people in the bigger cities are starting to get a complete distorted notion of moral and sexuality, due to the easy access to the many pornographic materials that can be downloaded and uploaded via the Internet and modern photo-taking mobile phones, Khun Ladda said.
Thai traditional values, in which Thai girls are expected to preserve their virginity and display sexual correctness, are being replaced by an obscene and vigorous sexual expression, Ladda further said.
Those new "Cool Ideas" of Thailand's girl students in Bangkok are setting the bad example of a free-sex society that could lead to premarital pregnancies, family problems, rape and crime, Ladda further added.
The Thai Cultural Watch Center has found that young Thai girls from regions outside Bangkok Metro are not following the new "Cool Nude Picture" habit because of their limited access to Internet media, stronger family ties and more social awareness, Ladda added.
Thailand's Cultural Watch Centre, an agency of the Thai Culture Ministry, is conducting seminars across the Kingdom as part of the Thai anti-pornography campaign. The final seminar would be on 16 June 2004 at the Cultural Centre at which representatives will exchange ideas and make anti-pornography for children and youngsters a national issue, Ladda further said.
A solution would be to proposed to PM Thaksin Shinawatra, to allocate a budget to fund a nation-wide crackdown on obscenity. The Ministry would further propose that a section of the Thai Cultural Watch Center would be set up at all schools in Thailand, Ladda said.
