Most people visiting Thailand have tried tasty Thai curries, but have you already tried the Thai wines? Thanks to advanced French technology, Thailand is adding Thai wine to its treasure of culinary delights.
The Khao Yai vineyard in the North-East province of Nakhon Rachasima in Thailand is the biggest and most modern winery in the Thai kingdom.
Set in a sunny valley about 300 meters above sea level, the Khao Yai Winery is known for its spectacular scenery and like the famous French vineyards, is very fast becoming a new tourist attraction in Thailand.
Thanks to its cool weather, the Khao Yai vineyard is ideal for growing very high-quality grapes like Chenin Blanc, Shiraz, Tempranillo, and even modern vines like Cardinal and Black Queen wine grapes. In fact, the wines of Thailand have become so good that they were served to world leaders during the Apec summit in Bangkok.
The fermentation room in the Khao Yai winery houses French-made oak barrels of 225-liters and the Thai vineyard can produce 600,000 bottles or 450,000 liters of wine by year. Khao Yai winery hopes to increase their production to 1 million bottles of Thai wine next year.
With the help of this advanced French technology, the imported expertise and high-quality equipment, the owners of Thailand's Khao Yai winery hope that like a exceptional wine, their Thai vineyard business will mature over the coming years
