"Ong-Bak, The Thai Warrior" a Thai Muay Thai movie made for International release

Muay Thai is a popular form of Thai martial arts known as "Thai boxing" and the movie "Ong-Bak, The Thai Warrior" is meant to be a Muay Thai movie for worldwide release starring Tony Jaa who is very famous in Muay Thai movies in Thailand.
Tony Jaa plays the role of Ting, a young man from the countryside village of Nong Pradu in Thailand. The countryside village is facing a drought period, but the villagers have faith in their protector Buddha statue named "Ong-Bak" for which they planned a religious celebration in the coming days.
But before the day of the celebration, the head of the Ong-Bak Buddha is stolen by a drug dealer from Bangkok named Don who works for the antique smuggler Khon Tuan (Sukhaaw Phongwilai).
Ting, an orphan raised by monk Pra Kru from the village temple and trained by the same monk in Muay Thai, takes up the task to travel to Bangkok and try to retrieve the head of the revered Ong Bak Buddha to save the village.
On arriving in Bangkok, Ting calls on George (Petchtai Wongkamlao) the son of the village headman who had been sent to Bangkok to get a better education but instead had become a hustler specialized in organizing extreme and illegal underground Muay Thai fights for gambling purposes.
At first George has no ambition to assist Ting in recuperating the Buddha head, but a fight in a local Muay Thai club where Ting shows his fighting talents makes that George sees a chance to make money from Ting in illegal organized fights and offers his help if in exchange Ting will fight in some fight-schemes setup by George.
Together they work their way through Bangkok to finaly find Don and Khon Tuan the antique smuggler and ultimately retrieve the revered Buddha head of Ong-Bak with which they return to their village.
