Bangkok: Engineering graduate Chananporn Rosjan, aged 22, has won the title of Miss Universe Thailand 2005 at a beauty pageant contest held in Bangkok last Saturday night.

Miss Chananporn Rosjan will now represent Thailand at the global Miss Universe 2005 pageant contest to be held in Bangkok on the date of May 30, 2005.

Beauty Queen Chanaporn, who holds a degree in engineering, hopes to become a jet pilot for Thai Air Asia airlines and is currently a pilot training course with Thailand's low-budget airline Air Asia.

The title of Miss Universe Thailand 2005 has brought Chananporn Rosjan the sum of one million baht (26,000 US$), together with diamond jewelry and the valuable tiara.

Beauty Queens from Thailand have won the global Miss Universe crown twice before, once in 1965 and then in 1988. Bangkok hosted the global Miss Universe 2005 pageant contest before in the year 1992.
